Emergency Responders Safely Extinguish Fire
By Wendi Agalzof-LaRue
A Cannon Beach apartment building was ablaze Sunday afternoon February 12th, 2017 when Cannon Beach Fire and Rescue arrived to the scene. Cannon Beach Police Department was the first to arrive while Seaside Fire and Rescue and Gearhart Fire and Rescue also responded with mutual aid to the structure fire downtown on Hemlock Street.
While the top floor of the four-unit apartment building was destroyed, lower units suffered smoke and water damage. Chief Matt Benedict of Cannon Beach Fire and Rescue reported that an elderly woman was assisted to safety by bystanders and the building is likely a total loss (as reported by The Oregonian/Oregon live).
Men and women from all of the departments worked together flawlessly to control the flames , safely extinguishing the fire with zero injuries.
