HOUSE BECOMES INSTANT DRIVE THRU IN HAMMOND !

CAR RESTS INSIDE BEDROOM OF SPIVEY HOME AFTER FAILING TO NEGOTIATE CURVE

Just this last week on Monday December 7th, Derek and Kalee Spivey, owners of a house located in Hammond, Oregon found themselves hosting an unwanted guest…er…car… in their master bedroom.

At approximately 10:30 pm, a vehicle headed towards Hammond from Warrenton, failed to negotiate the curve near Bio Oregon and careened thru an open field, past some trees, up an incline and directly into the master bedroom of the home landing upside down on top of the residents bed in the masterbedroom.

Both Derek and Kalee had been asleep in the bed, when the car came crashing thru the wall.  With the car now in the bedroom, Derek and Kalee, were trapped beneath the upside down vehicle, and a partially collapsed bedroom ceiling.  Both were to climb out from underneath the wreckage and debris and both were fortunate to escape serious injuries.

The neighbor, Travis Caulder, a volunteer on the Warrenton-Hammond Fire Department heard the noise and was first on scene to render aid.  He was joined by another neighbor who is a Medix employee who also assisted the Spiveys until Police and Fire Departments arrived on scene.

The driver of the vehicle, was taken to the hospital for evaluation and the police are not stating information explaining why the driver may have lost control.

Wreckage is towed away.

The Spiveys were assisted with temporary hotel housing by the Red Cross and their two dogs were housed with family members temporarily. As of today, repairs have begun on the house.
