Story by “older sister” Megan Dowaiby

Over 100 years ago, two sisters, Louise and Harriet Hunter shared the title of Astoria Regatta Queen reigning 7 years apart. Last night, history nearly repeated itself when my littlest sister, Mara Hunter assumed her reign just 6 years after our sister, Kim Louise. Both of their names sequentially nod an honor to the original queens and Mara’s reign comes just one year shy of the 7 years that Harriet wore the crown after her big sister. Some things truly are written in the stars? It’s funny how history likes to snatch the pen and write such a beautiful story.
