After years of planning, the Warrenton VFW realized a long-awaited dream of erecting a monument dedicated to both Warrenton servicemen and others outside of Warrenton area. Bricks can be purchased near the monument for veterans to be remembered by.
Planning for this began in 1991 and took years to make it into a reality. After raising $40,000 through various fundraising efforts, such as a grant from the city parks Quincy Robinson fund, the statue was finally unveiled by Commander Bert Little, on Saturday August 18th at a ceremony in front of the Warrenton Post Office at the memorial park known as Flag Park.
The monument was done by artist Mark Kenny.
