The Sunset Empire Park & Recreation District (SEPRD) is hosting its 6th annual Farmers Market! The Market begins Wednesday, June 20th through August 29th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and September 5th through 19th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and is held at the Broadway Middle School Parking lot (1120 Broadway).

This event works to support both local families and businesses as well as provide fresh, healthy food to the community. In the past couple years this event has grown with increased attendance and dramatic increases in vendors participating. This year, the Seaside Farmer’s Market will feature over 50 vendors over the course of the market season, a dramatic increase from the roughly dozen the first couple of years. SEPRD has arranged for more food options as well as fun activity-based vendors like face painting, kids craft opportunities and live music.

Angi Wildt is in her second year as manager of the Farmers Market and brings the unique experience as a market vendor to her position. Her favorite thing about the market is that it brings the community together and it is an opportunity to shop locally to support local farmers as well as get to know them. She also enjoys being involved with the Farmers Market because she loves helping vendors be successful, bringing joy to people, and seeing kids have fun.

Continuing from years past is that SNAP benefits will be accepted! The Seaside Farmers Market offers a SNAP match program that will match SNAP purchases dollar for dollar up to $10, allowing low income families to have easier access to heathy foods. In addition, patrons can spend Farm Direct Nutrition Program (FDNR) checks on fresh foods.

All are encouraged to come and peruse the goods sold by the vendors or grab a bite to eat in the food court and enjoy live musical performances by a new artist each week. A wide variety of goods will be available some of which will include fresh produce and fruits, handcrafted jewelry, homemade goods, crafts, flowers, massage therapy, beverages, art, photography, tasty treats and so much more!

The first band to perform is riding up from California all on bicycles! The Biketopia Music Collective will be carrying all their instruments with them and will even be using the cycles to power their performance. With the band is artist Molly Keen, who will be painting a mural on a wall in the Sunset Empire Park and Recreation District’s garden.

Come meet your local growers and artisans at the Seaside Farmers Market, a fun and healthy way to spend your day!
