Helen Mae Altheide (Lund) was taken from this life on January 18, 2018, while surrounded by family at her home in Astoria, after bravely battling Multiple Sclerosis for many years. She was 70 years old.
Helen was born in Dallas, OR on August 9, 1947 to Lester and Dorothy Lund. She Graduated from beauty school in 1967 and began working at Ardelles where she worked for several years. In 1980 she opened her own salon named Hilltop Hair Company and worked until her health forced her to retire. Hair was her passion. She was a very gifted hairdresser along with many other talents. Helen was a woman of great faith and had the biggest heart ever! She loved her husband, children and grandchildren with all her heart.
Helen is survived by her husband Jon Altheide, a daughter and son-in-law, Erica and Marty Altheide-Nelson; grandsons, Trevor and Dylan Altheide-Nelson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Patty Lund, and Richard and Sharon Lund; and many nieces and nephews who were very special to her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Dorothy Lund, her brother Robert Lund, and her son, Mick Altheide.
A celebration of life will be held for both Helen and Mick at Bethany Lutheran Church on Saturday, February 3rd at 2:00 p.m.
