Identity Theft Raises Eyebrows
Warrenton Police Files
By Shaylyn French
In recent years, there has been a serious spike in identity theft. With our personal information being provided to so many sources, it’s honestly no surprise that there is a spike in identity theft.
Identity theft is scary in every sense of the ordeal, and for one Warrenton woman that we shall call Rose Warren to respect her privacy, she has had to experience the real fears that come with one’s identity being stolen or in her case, attempted to be stolen.
Earlier this week, Warren checked her mail just as anyone else would. As she skimmed through her envelopes, she opened one that caught her off guard. Inside was a credit card for an account that she herself did not open. This event was how the initial investigation with Warrenton Police Department officially began.
Not once but twice?
Warren has been working with WPD to establish who is responsible, yet no suspects have been found at this time. The thief used her private and secure information to open not one but two different accounts! Although Ms. Warren is covered with Identity theft protection, she still remains unknowing as into who or how this happened.
