Drunk Driver Ends up in Jail

By Shaylyn French

What would be worse than drinking underage and driving? How about getting stuck in a ditch, then quickly dashing to hide from police only to get caught. For 19 year old Duke Jackson, of Gales Creek, all of these events occurred while having one of what could be called one of the more interesting tours of our city. After driving over the well maintained lawn of Taco Bell and Wauna Federal Credit Union,  then veering into the surrounding parking lots, and then heading towards TJ Maxx, he was rewarded with scenic view of our very own County Jail.

On Sunday night at 12:10, police received reports a of a vehicle stuck in a ditch near Taco Bell with an absent driver. As officers from Warrenton Police Department and Oregon State Patrol arrived, the search for the driver responsible immediately began and came to a quick close as they found Jackson and two other minors hiding by TJ Maxx. All were arrested for MIP.

The 13% result on Jackson’s breath test allowed him fast track access to CCSO Jail. The other minors in the vehicle are being held at Clatsop Co. Juvenile Detention Center. One of the minors was also cited for charges of littering.
