From currency to seasoning, salt has played a vital role in human history and survival.  Retired teacher and National Park ranger Tom Wilson will be discussing the importance of salt for the Lewis and Clark Expedition, which Corps members made salt, and how it was made. Wilson will share how the current Salt Works site became a memorial to the expeditions salt making endeavors.  Tom has spent many days and nights on the beach in Seaside doing living history programs recreating the process of how members of the expedition may have made salt during the winter of 1805-1806.
