Dorothy Irene Nadon

Astoria May 14, 1923 — Feb. 16, 2017

Dorothy Irene Nadon was born in Hebo, Oregon, on May 14, 1923, to Lloyd and Nora Kellow. She passed away on Feb. 16, 2017, at the perfect age of 93, at home in Astoria, Oregon. Dorothy was raised on the Oregon North Coast in Astoria with her six siblings, and learned at an early age to nurture and care for those around her.

After graduating from high school she went on to earn her degree in nursing from the University of Portland. A couple of her favorite memories were working as a nurse in obstetrics, bringing new life into the world, and then going on to instill her passion and love for those in need, as she taught her students to become the best nursing assistants they could be.

She met and married the love of her life, Gene R. Nadon, in Astoria, on Oct. 31, 1948, where they created a home of love and welcomed their four children. While Dorothy loved to read a good book or join the ladies on the golf course for a round of golf, she was an avid Seahawks fan, and you know where you could find her on Sunday afternoons. There was a time where Dorothy had the opportunity, and was able to provide and take care of her in-laws while living in the warmth of Sun City, Arizona, for 35 years.

Dorothy is survived by her sisters, Lee Kellow of Woodburn, Oregon, Lois and George Shull of Lake Oswego, Oregon, and Glenda and Richard Collins of Salem, Oregon; children, Jackie and Tom Svensen of Gearhart, Oregon, Tom and Sue Nadon of Chelan, Washington, Barbara and Bob Harn of Astoria, Oregon, and Bob and Patricia Nadon of Bend, Oregon; grandchildren, Kris and Jade Svensen of Astoria, Oregon, Adam and Melissa Svensen of Astoria, Oregon, Lindsay Harn of Wellington, New Zealand, Meagan Harn of San Jose, California, Sara Nadon of Everett, Washington, Courtney Nadon of Spokane, Washington, and Kyle Nadon of Seattle, Washington; great-grandchildren, Emry and Everlie Svensen of Astoria, Oregon, Hailey and Kilee Svensen of Astoria, Oregon, Ana Rodriguez of South Carolina, Lily Fitzpatrick of Everett, Washington, and Jaxon and Kellen Nadon of Spokane, Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gene R. Nadon; her parents, Lloyd and Nora (Meyers) Kellow; and her brothers, Howard Kellow, Forrest Kellow and Merle Kellow.
