The Owyhee River Journals @ Seaside Public Library | Seaside | Oregon | United States

Seaside and surrounding communities will have a rare and special opportunity to join writer Bonnie Olin, at the Seaside Public Library, for a richly-illustrated journey into the canyonlands of the Owyhee River in Nevada, Idaho and Oregon. This talk, slideshow, reading and 20 minute movie is based on her book, The Owyhee River Journals. The book includes 125 color photos of rarely seen landscapes by photographer Mike Quigley, created over many years of their travels together.

Olin has been kayaking with her husband Mike Quigley for 30 years, using rivers as their highways into the wild. Quiqley has been exploring the Owyhee since the mid 1970s and introduced Olin to these canyonlands in 1993. Together, they have spent the last 26 years exploring these canyons, kayaking the river and hiking the side canyons from river to rim. If you are an outdoor enthusiast or an armchair adventurer, you won’t want to miss seeing the Owyhee, because you won’t find yourself there on the way to anywhere else.

Handouts offering detailed information on the Owyhee conservation proposal, as well as recreational opportunities in the area, will be available at the event. The presentation will be followed by a question and answer period and book signing.
