History & Hops: Clatsop Pioneers Building Ships @ Seaside Brewing Co.

Clatsop Pioneers Building Ships
Shipbuilding is not an industry that springs to mind when considering the work of Clatsop County’s early pioneers. Having been one of the earliest History and Hops presenters when he shared the story of a gristmill in Seaside, Jerry Sutherland returns on Thursday, January 31 at 6PM at the Seaside Brewing Co.to share the story of shipbuilding on the Clatsop Plains. While doing research for Calvin Tibbets: Oregon’s First Pioneer, Sutherland learned about pioneers building ships at Skipanon Landing as early as 1849. Sutherland will share historical maps, drawings, and manuscripts as he makes shipbuilding in early Clatsop County come to life.
